まだ暗い相差漁港。

船のエンジン音と波の音だけが響く静かな時間。

冬の空気は澄み、空がゆっくりと明るくなっていく。

Osatsu Harbor is still wrapped in darkness. Only the hum of boat engines and the gentle sound of waves fill the air.

The crisp winter atmosphere makes the slow brightening of the sky even more striking.

この日は、相差の伊勢海老網漁に同行。

伊勢海老網漁の時期は、11月から4月ごろまで。

相差の冬を代表する、海の仕事。

 

That day, I joined the Ise lobster net fishing.

The season runs from November to April — a defining winter tradition in Osatsu.

 

 

 

 

船で港を出ると、相差の町の見え方が少し変わってくる。

Once the boat left the harbor, the town of Osatsu revealed itself in a new way.

 

陸から見る海とは違い、海から見る相差は、

「人の暮らしが海と近い町」だと感じた。

From the sea, you realize Osatsu is a place where daily life is deeply tied to the ocean

 

この海は、漁師さんの仕事の場であり、

少し時間が経てば、海女さんたちが潜りに行く海でもある。

It’s the fishermen’s workplace, and soon after, it becomes the diving ground for Ama divers.

6:30　伊勢海老網を引き揚げる

6:30 am — Pulling Up the Lobster Nets

 

漁船が港を離れ、浅瀬や沖に仕掛けた網へ向かう。

伊勢海老網漁は 10月〜4月限定 の冬の風物詩。

 

 

Boats leave the harbor and head toward the nets set in shallow and deeper waters.

Lobster net fishing is a seasonal tradition, taking place only from October to April.

 

 

 

 

 

 

7:00　港へ戻る

7:00 am — Returning to the Harbor

 

漁を終えた船が次々と帰港。

船上には伊勢海老や魚が並び、冬の海の恵みを感じられる。

 

 

Boats begin returning to the harbor with their morning catch.

Spiny lobsters and various fish fill the deck, showcasing the richness of the winter sea.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

7:30〜10:00　網から漁獲物を外す作業

7:30–10:00 am — Removing the Catch from the Nets

 

港に着くと、漁師さんたちは網にかかった伊勢海老や魚を一つずつ外していく。

この作業は時間がかかり、冬の相差の朝の風景として定着している。

補足:　大漁の日やゴミ・海藻が多い日は夕方まで続くこともある。

 

 

Once the boats dock, fishermen begin removing each lobster and fish from the nets by hand.

This meticulous work is a familiar winter morning scene in Osatsu.

 

Where to be: Harbor work area (observe from a respectful distance)

Note:

 On days with a big catch or when seaweed and debris are tangled in the nets, the work may continue until late afternoon.

 

 

 

 

 

9:00〜　海女さんの準備と海へ向かう時間

9:00 am — Ama Divers Begin Their Day

 

伊勢海老網漁が落ち着くと、海女さんたちの時間が始まる。

ただし、海女漁は 前日の漁港組合の判断 によって実施が決まる。

 

海女漁が行われる日だけ見られる光景：

• 海女小屋での準備

• 海へ向かう海女さんたちの姿

 

休漁日:

• 1月・2月は海女漁なし

• 毎週火曜・土曜は休み

• 7のつく日（7日・17日・27日）も休み

 

 

After the lobster fishing activity settles, it becomes the Ama divers’ turn.

However, Ama diving only takes place if approved by the fishing cooperative the day before.

 

 

Only on diving days you can see:

• Ama divers preparing at their huts

• Divers heading toward the sea

Days with no Ama diving:

• January & February

• Every Tuesday & Saturday

• 7th, 17th, 27th — traditional safety days

海を知り、人を気遣う船長さん

A Captain Who Knows the Sea and Cares for People

 

 

 

漁師さんというと、無口で厳しいイメージを持つ人もいるかもしれないが、

Many imagine fishermen as stern and quiet.

しかし我らの船長さんはとてもフレンドリー。

操船しながら、

「このあたりは投石*があるあたりだ」＊人工的につくった漁場

「この辺は、海女さんの場所だからね」

と、さりげなく教えてくれた。

But our captain was warm and talkative.

While steering, he casually pointed out, “This area has artificial fishing grounds,” or “This is where the Ama divers work.”

 

海を知ることと同時に、

人の仕事を気遣うことも、相差の海では当たり前のことのようだ。

In Osatsu, knowing the sea also means respecting the work of others.

相差は「海女の町」であり「漁師町」

Osatsu — Both an Ama Town and a Fishermen’s Town

 

伊勢海老網漁と海女漁。

二つの海の営みが同じ海を時間で分け合い、支え合いながら続いている。

このリズムこそが、相差という町の魅力。

 

 

Lobster net fishing and Ama diving — two traditions sharing the same sea.

By dividing the ocean by time and respecting each other’s work, the people of Osatsu keep these practices alive.

This rhythm is what makes Osatsu truly special.

冬の相差を訪れるなら、

6:00〜10:00の港がもっともドラマチック。

日の出、漁船、網漁、そして海女さんの準備まで、

「海とともに生きる町の一日」を体感できます。

 

 

If you visit Osatsu in winter, the harbor between 6:00 and 10:00 am offers the most vivid experience.

From sunrise to fishing boats, from lobster nets to Ama divers preparing for the sea — you can witness a full morning shaped by the ocean.

ちなみに、この日は海がとても静かで、伊勢海老の動きも鈍く不漁でした。 しかし、条件がそろった大漁の日には、驚くほどたくさんの伊勢海老が網にかかることもあるんですよ。

 

On this particular day, the sea was calm and the lobsters were not very active, resulting in a poor catch.

But on days when the conditions are right, the nets can be filled with an impressive amount of spiny lobsters.

Osatsu Is More Than Just an Ama Town

 

 

 

相差という町を知るとき、「海女の町」というイメージが最初に浮かぶかもしれません。

When people think of Osatsu, “Ama divers’ town” is often the first image.

 

それは、相差の大きな魅力のひとつです。

でも同時に、相差は漁師町でもあります。

That’s true — but Osatsu is also a fishermen’s town.

 

伊勢海老漁があり、そのあとに海女漁があり、同じ海を大切に使い続けてきた町です。

Here, lobster fishing and Ama diving coexist, both relying on the same cherished sea.

海女の文化があり、伊勢海老網漁があり、海とともに生きる人たちがいます。

This is where Ama culture thrives, lobster fishing continues, and people live closely with the sea.

 

相差町は、「海女の町」であり、「海の仕事が息づく町」。

Osatsu is both an Ama town and a town where ocean work is alive.
